BioMatera has developed an innovative and cost-effective process to produce a range of completely biodegradable polymers from renewable raw materials. These polymers are part of a broad family of natural compounds, the PHAs (PolyHydroxyAlkanoates). With properties equivalent to conventional plastic, PHAs offer an alternative to similar products derived mostly from petroleum. In the context of shrinking reserves, the company offers a compelling solution to the problem of overconsumption of fossil fuel, a non-renewable resource. PHAs can be used in the manufacture of food packaging, agricultural products, inks, beauty products, biomedical products, and in many other applications.
